The Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Gdańsk is the oldest and largest medical education institution in northern Poland. Established in 1945, the faculty serves as a clinical and academic center that plays a leading role in the medical field today.
Medical education at the faculty is conducted as a 6-year long-cycle Master’s (MSc) program. The language of instruction is Polish, with an English-language track available since 2002. The quality of education at the faculty has been awarded the highest level of accreditation (5-year full accreditation) by both the Polish State Accreditation Committee and the Accreditation Committee for Medical Universities.
The educational process is carried out through theoretical courses integrated with practical clinical training. These sessions take place at the university's own healthcare centers and at selected teaching hospitals across Gdańsk.
Student Achievements and Scientific Activities
The faculty’s students are nationally recognized for their academic discipline and excellence. GUMed students consistently secure first-place rankings in prestigious nationwide medical competitions, such as "Scapula Aurea" (Anatomy), "Superhelisa" (Biochemistry), and "Great Synapse" (Neurology). Additionally, students actively participate in international symposia through various student scientific circles.
The faculty maintains numerous partnerships with medical institutions and research organizations both in Poland and internationally, engaging in various projects aimed at addressing contemporary medical challenges.
