The Maritime University of Szczecin offers a four-year Bachelor of Engineering programme in mechanical engineering that is 100% compliant with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). The entire programme is delivered in English, making it a perfect choice for those who want to combine studying towards a Bachelor degree with intensive language learning.
The curriculum is designed to prepare students for an international sea-going career immediately after graduation. The programme offers three specialisations beginning from the third semester: Operation of Marine Power Plants, Diagnostic and Repair of Marine Equipment, and Operation of Marine Power Plants and Motor Yachts.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates are awarded the degree of inżynier, which corresponds to Bachelor of Engineering. They may perform the function of an officer in the marine vessel engineering department or may be employed in a repair shipyard, maintenance departments of enterprises, electrical power and heating plants, paper factories, steelworks, ports, sewage treatment plants, pump stations, electrical power generation, transfer and distribution facilities, renewable energy, on-shore and off-shore wind farm operation enterprises, electrical device production plants, power plants as well as electrical power and heating plants, manufacturers of supporting constructions, fixture, insulation devices and systems.
Marine engineering is an extremely demanding field requiring great technical knowledge and a high level of responsibility. The classes are conducted by professionals with many years of practical experience who will teach students basic knowledge of issues such as architecture, materials science, design of machinery and equipment as well as their service and repairs and other issues related to marine engineering. The demand for marine engineering is enormous in professions such as ship mechanics, designers and managers.
