Description

Graduates of the Applied Geophysics Department

Graduates of the Applied Geophysics department at our university can carry out their development and engineering tasks thanks to the knowledge they have acquired on the execution of geophysical methods. Graduates can design and implement geophysical environments for the assessment of natural hazards and man-made hazards, particularly threats to the extraction of energy and raw materials. Graduates also have the abilities to plan and implement geophysical functions of the environment in time and space.

Career Paths and Further Studies

Applied Geophysics graduates are prepared to work in geophysics, geology, and mining operations. They also possess the necessary qualifications for research in higher study, scientific and research institutes, and other development activities. Furthermore, their physical and IT knowledge positions them for creative work in tertiary custody (PhD studies).

Work Environment and Competencies

Applied Geophysics graduates can work independently in the field, executing measurement results in roles aligned with geophysical, geological, and mining profiles. They can also operate as system guards for the results and interpretation of geophysical and geological-mining data. Additionally, they may work in geophysical observatories and operate seismometric networks in hard coal and copper mines.

Diverse Professional Opportunities

With a strong understanding of fully equipped scientific instruments and IT tools, graduates can also find opportunities in other higher technical education organizations and various branches of geophysics, including earnings geophysics, engineering geophysics, and environmental geophysics. Potential job titles include earnings geophysicist, petroleum geophysicist, mining geophysicist, environmental geophysicist, petrophysicist, and seismologist.

Collaboration with the Career Office

The Faculty of Geology and Geophysics collaborates with the EVS - UST Career Office and produces reports annually, highlighting the achievements and opportunities for fellows of the program.
