The Informatics and Econometrics (Big Data Analytics) program is a Master's degree program offered by the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Mathematics. The program aims to equip students with skills and knowledge required for analyzing massive datasets. Students will learn about the technologies used for storing, processing, and analyzing large data sets, as well as other quantitative methods of economic analysis and computer science tools. They will gain practical skills in building analytical solutions on Big Data platforms and become familiar with distributed and parallel processing systems. The program also focuses on the use of high-level programming languages, design, and programming of databases.
Applicants must hold a diploma of the first-cycle studies in the field of computer science and econometrics, informatics, economics, finance and accounting, logistics, or mathematics. Alternatively, applicants with diplomas from other fields of the first cycle studies, for which the effects of education are convergent with the learning outcomes expected of the candidates, can apply. They should have confirmed knowledge of English language.
The program is divided into two years and covers subjects such as mathematical economics, dynamic and financial econometrics, multidimensional data analysis, advanced programming, and statistical analysis in market research, among others. After graduation, students can work as future analysts of massive datasets that are stored in companies and economic institutions, such as banks, stock markets, and telecommunications companies.
