The Food Science: Technology and Nutrition Bachelor's degree program is a six-semester course that aims to equip students with the latest knowledge and skills in food technology, food processing, and nutrition. The program emphasizes practical laboratory activities, experiments conducted in groups or individually, lectures, tutorials, and project-based teaching. Graduates will have knowledge related to technological processes and human nutrition, and will be able to identify chemical, biological, and physical hazards during food production, processing, distribution, and storage. The program also focuses on the organization of technological processes, high-quality products, implementation of modern and innovative techniques, standards, and sustainable food systems. In addition, students will acquire knowledge and skills regarding well-balanced nutrition in maintaining health.
To apply for this program, applicants must have a confirmed knowledge of English, a diploma recognized by the EU, and the results of the maturity examination in biology, chemistry, or mathematics. The program includes mandatory subjects such as general chemistry, biology, mathematics, economy, information technology, food raw materials, foreign language, sociology of food and nutrition, and others. The program is divided into three years, each year covering different subjects, including biochemistry & enzymology, general food technology, food production equipment and engineering, food safety and quality management, and many more.
Upon completion of this degree program, graduates can find employment in engineering and technology positions in companies operating in the food industry, food processing plants, enterprises dealing with quality and safety management in the food chain, consulting companies, commercial laboratories, food distribution and logistics, R&D institutes, companies responsible for diet planning and catering, facilities disseminating professional knowledge about food and nutrition, and other institutions of the food chain. The tuition fee for this program is 4,500 PLN per semester, but it is free of charge for Polish nationals.
