The English Studies – Linguistics program at the Institute of English Studies is designed to meet the demands of the evolving professional and academic landscape. By integrating disciplines such as sociology, psychology, and communication studies, the program ensures that graduates are highly competitive in the global job market as designated Linguistics Specialists.

Curriculum and Research Fields

The program explores the multifaceted nature of language, from its neurological foundations to its role in artificial intelligence. Key areas of study include:

• Language & Society: Multilingualism, regional language varieties, and the evolution of language over time.
• Technology & AI: Computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and language modeling for AI systems.
• Communication & Media: Analyzing communication patterns across traditional and modern media platforms.
• Translation Studies: Practical foundations of translation, including literary translation and translation for specific purposes (LSP).

Program Structure

• MA Seminars: From the start, students select an MA seminar from a diverse range of topics, allowing them to focus their research on a specific area of interest.
• Soft Skills Development: Beyond theoretical knowledge, the program equips students with the soft skills necessary for professional success and adaptability in diverse work environments.
• Instruction Language: All classes and assessments are conducted entirely in English.

Optional Teacher Training

Students have the unique opportunity to participate in additional teacher training outside the standard curriculum. This allows them to obtain or complete the qualifications required to teach English as a foreign language at all educational levels:

• Students who began their training during their BA can finalize their credentials during the MA program.
• Obtaining full teaching qualifications is possible if the student's previous BA degree was thematically related to English language education, linguistics, or cultural studies.
