The Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Engineering Chemistry at Silesian University of Technology is an English-taught undergraduate program designed for students who want to study chemistry, chemical engineering, production processes, industrial technologies, sustainable production and process design. The program is suitable for students who plan to study engineering in Poland and build a career in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, petrochemical, glass, construction materials or production technology sectors.
The program lasts 7 semesters / 3.5 years and is offered as full-time first-cycle studies. It combines chemistry, physics, mathematics and engineering foundations to help students develop practical engineering skills in chemistry and chemical engineering.
During the program, students learn about chemical process design, chemical synthesis, separation processes, improvement of production processes, sustainable production, reduction of energy and material consumption, process modelling, equipment design and measurement methods used in industry. Students also gain knowledge of mixing, heating, complex chemical reactions, temperature and pressure measurements, analytical methods and the transfer of laboratory-scale results to industrial applications.
The curriculum may include the use of modern engineering software, computer-aided design, computer-aided engineering, computational fluid dynamics, process simulation and digital evaluation of production processes. This helps students develop a solution-oriented approach to technical problems in the chemical and processing industries.
The program places emphasis not only on theoretical knowledge, but also on practical learning, problem-based learning and project-based learning. Students gain knowledge in continuous improvement of production processes, industrial digitalization, Industry 4.0, legal requirements, intellectual property protection, product design, testing standards and technology development.
A compulsory four-week internship is included in the program. According to the university’s information, students may complete the internship in a selected company or research and development unit. This practical experience helps students apply their technical knowledge in a real working environment and build connections with industry.
Graduates may pursue careers in the chemical industry, petrochemical sector, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, glass and construction materials, production processes, research and development, process design, technology development, quality control, environmentally responsible production and industrial management. Graduates may also gain a foundation for starting their own business in chemical production, process design or technology development.
This program is a strong option for students who want to study Industrial and Engineering Chemistry at bachelor’s level in Poland, join an English-taught program combining chemistry and engineering, and specialize in industry-focused chemical technologies.
