The Master’s degree programme in Electrical Engineering at Poznan University of Technology is a comprehensive second-cycle programme designed for students who want to gain advanced expertise in the generation, distribution, storage and use of electricity. The programme is offered by the Faculty of Automatic Control, Robotics and Electrical Engineering. It is a full-time programme taught in English and lasts 3 semesters. Graduates receive a Master of Science degree.
Electrical engineering is an important field of science and technology for the modern economy. The programme covers electrical machines, automation actuating systems, power electronics, microprocessor and measurement technology, smart buildings, electromobility, vehicle electronic systems, power engineering, renewable energy sources and lighting technology. Students gain advanced theoretical knowledge while developing practical engineering skills.
During the programme, students can choose their own learning path by selecting one of several specializations. The Smart Measurement Systems specialization focuses on electronic measurement systems, intelligent signal processing methods, advanced sensor systems, distributed measurement systems in power networks, programmable logic controllers, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, thermal imaging diagnostics and modern measurement signal acquisition systems.
The Microprocessor Control Systems in Electrical Engineering specialization provides knowledge of the construction and design principles of analogue-digital systems, power-electronic converter systems and the ability to design and implement control systems for these systems. The Drive Systems in Industry and Electromobility specialization includes the construction, control and operation of electric drive systems, computer simulation methods, design, testing and diagnostics of drive systems, as well as the use of new technologies and materials.
The Lighting Engineering specialization focuses on lighting requirements, lighting design and visualization, control systems, technological innovations and current issues in lighting. The Electrical Systems in Industry and Vehicles specialization covers modern solutions for automotive and industrial automation systems, electronics and electrical engineering, electrical installations, smart buildings, supervisory control systems, programmable logic controllers, energy storage in industrial applications and energy systems in electric and hybrid vehicles.
This programme is suitable for candidates with a background in electrical engineering, electronics, automation, energy systems, mechatronics or related technical fields. Students are expected to have analytical thinking skills, an interest in electrical and energy systems, openness to solving technical problems and motivation to learn modern measurement and control systems.
Internship and practical training opportunities are also part of the study experience. Students may complete traineeships and internships abroad through Erasmus+, EUNICE and IAESTE programmes. These opportunities help students gain international experience, explore different engineering environments and develop professional contacts.
Graduates of the Electrical Engineering master’s programme at Poznan University of Technology may work in electrical engineering, renewable energy, smart building systems, electrical installations, power networks, production companies, research and development units, automation systems, electromobility and energy storage. They may also continue their education at the Doctoral School.
One of the key advantages of the programme is the possibility of obtaining authorizations without restrictions for the design and management of work in the field of electrical and power networks, installations and devices. Graduates are prepared for managerial positions as high-level electrical engineering specialists and may also run their own business in the electrical sector. Studying Electrical Engineering at Poznan University of Technology gives students the opportunity to gain advanced engineering education in English and build a strong career in energy and electrical technologies.
