The 5-year DMD (Dentistry) program at the Medical University of Łódź is designed for international students who want to study Dentistry in English at one of the leading medical universities in Central Europe. The Medical University of Łódź is the largest medical university in Poland and has been educating future doctors and dentists since 1945. It combines multi-generational teaching traditions with innovative teaching methods, offering students comprehensive knowledge, necessary skills, and essential clinical preparation.
The program has one intake per year in the Fall semester. The academic year lasts from October to June. The duration of the program is 5 years (10 semesters). Graduates are awarded the degree of LEKARZ-DENTYSTA (Doctor of Dental Medicine). The program is globally recognized and prepares graduates to work in public and private healthcare institutions as well as research centers. The curriculum is compliant with EU standards and ensures professional readiness and academic excellence.
During the first two years, students mainly study preclinical subjects such as human anatomy, chemistry, medical biology, biochemistry, immunology, physiology, histology, pathomorphology, and pharmacology. During the last three years, students continue with clinical subjects including internal diseases, neurology, otolaryngology, oral surgery, conservative dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and implantology.
The curriculum also includes IT and biostatistical preparation, social sciences and humanities subjects such as medical ethics, history of medicine, and sociology, as well as physical education. Particular emphasis is placed on developing proper professional attitudes, communication skills with patients, and an understanding of psychosocial factors affecting health.
