Data Science

The Faculty of Mathematics and Information Science offers a range of advanced degree programs in computer science, including the M.Sc. program in Data Science. As one of the first European programs in this field, the program is fully focused on data engineering and data analytics, providing students with the necessary skills to process and analyze large volumes of data. The faculty's data science team is composed of renowned researchers who are actively involved in the international research community and present their findings at major scientific events.

The Data Science program covers a range of topics including data exploration and visualization, big data analytics, cloud computing, and natural language processing. Students also gain in-depth knowledge of machine learning methods, including deep learning and methods focused on network and text analysis. The program's emphasis on hands-on experience enables students to solve real-world problems defined by industry experts and prepares them for employment as data scientists and data engineers in high-tech companies, IT companies, and financial sector companies.

The program's duration can be either 1.5 or 2 years, depending on whether students require additional preparation. Students can begin the program in either October or February, with the option to spend a semester studying in one of the faculty's cooperating European universities. Each student selects a scientific advisor from the faculty's academic and research staff, and the final semester is devoted primarily to M.Sc. thesis preparation.

The faculty's mission is to provide students with a deep understanding of modern mathematics and computer science trends, as well as to develop their ability to use IT tools to write computer programs and develop and verify IT projects. Graduates of the Data Science program are well-prepared to work in companies that require advanced IT solutions, particularly in high-tech companies, IT consultancy firms, and financial institutions. Additionally, graduates can continue their education as PhD candidates, given the numerous open and challenging topics in the field of Data Science.
