The BSc Civil Engineering program at Silesian University of Technology is an English-taught bachelor’s degree designed for students who want to study structural design, construction technologies, building materials, infrastructure systems, project management and sustainable engineering solutions. The program is suitable for students who plan to study engineering in Poland and build a technical, design-oriented or management-focused career in the construction sector.
Offered by the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Silesian University of Technology, the program provides students with both theoretical and practical knowledge essential for civil engineering practice. Graduates gain the skills required to design, build, maintain and modernize structures, manage construction processes and participate in technical supervision and engineering activities.
During the program, students study subjects such as mathematics, physics, mechanics, structural analysis, structural dynamics, materials science, geotechnics, construction technology, architectural and technical drawing, durability of building materials, bridge and transport structures, road and rail infrastructure, industrial buildings and construction law. Students also learn how to read architectural, construction and geodetic drawings and prepare technical documentation using selected CAD and BIM software.
The curriculum supports the development of engineering skills related to the dimensioning and design of selected structural elements, including metal, reinforced concrete, composite, timber and masonry structures. Students also gain knowledge in computer-based structural modelling, static and dynamic analysis, construction safety, cost estimation, work scheduling and construction site organization.
Sustainability and environmental awareness are also important parts of the program. Students learn about the environmental impact of construction investments, factors affecting the durability of buildings, quality management in construction, professional ethics, legal regulations and entrepreneurship in the construction sector.
Graduates may pursue career opportunities in structural design, construction site management, construction supervision, infrastructure projects, building materials production, maintenance and modernization works, project planning, cost control, research and development, and engineering consultancy. According to the university’s program information, graduates are prepared to work in design, management, supervision, control, research and engineering areas within the construction sector.
This program is a strong option for students who want to study Civil Engineering at bachelor’s level in Poland, gain an English-taught engineering education in Europe and prepare for a technical career in the construction industry.
