The Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering at Silesian University of Technology is an interdisciplinary engineering program designed for students who want to study medical technologies, biomedical devices, artificial intelligence, medical informatics, biomaterials and healthcare-related engineering solutions. The program is suitable for students who plan to study engineering in Poland and build a career in health technologies.
The duration of the program is 7 semesters. In the first semesters, students study general education courses, basic engineering subjects and an introduction to biomedical engineering. In the following semesters, students gradually specialize in one of the available educational paths.
During the program, students learn the principles of acquiring, processing and analyzing biomedical signals, images and medical data. They also gain knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning methods used in medicine. Medical informatics, hospital information systems, biomedical data analysis and healthcare technologies are important parts of the program.
The curriculum also covers biomaterials, medical device design, prosthetic technologies, implant systems, surface coating technologies, biomechanics, electronics, mechanics, sport and rehabilitation engineering. Students learn how to use modern CAD and CAE systems for design, modelling and computer simulations.
The program offers four educational paths leading to a bachelor’s degree:
Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence
This path focuses on medical informatics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, biomedical data analysis and hospital information systems.
Biomaterials and Technologies for Medicine
This path focuses on biomaterials, materials used in medical devices, dental prosthetics, implant systems and surface technologies.
Design of Biomechatronic Devices
This path covers the design of biomechatronic devices, medical device manufacturing, rehabilitation technologies, robotic systems and engineering solutions.
Electronics and Biomedical Informatics
This path focuses on biomedical electronic systems, embedded systems, basic components of medical devices, biomedical IoT and the programming of electronic biomedical systems.
Graduates may pursue career opportunities in medical device companies, health technology firms, hospital information systems, biomedical data analysis, AI-supported healthcare applications, biomaterials and prosthetic technologies, rehabilitation engineering, research and development, quality control and technical support.
This program is a strong option for students who want to study Biomedical Engineering at bachelor’s level in Poland, combine engineering knowledge with healthcare technologies and specialize in future-oriented medical technologies.
