The Master’s degree programme in Computing at Poznan University of Technology is a comprehensive second-cycle programme designed for students who want to gain advanced expertise in software engineering, cybersecurity, information technology, research, systems analysis and project development. The programme is offered by the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications. It is a full-time programme taught in English and lasts 3 semesters. Graduates receive a Master of Science degree.

The Computing master’s programme prepares students to become specialists in information technology who can independently solve IT problems, analyse research problems, critically evaluate existing solutions and select appropriate tools and methods for the implementation of defined tasks. The programme also helps students develop the technical and organizational skills needed to play key roles in projects.

During the programme, students deepen their knowledge and acquire new skills by specializing in software engineering or cybersecurity. The Software Engineering specialization focuses on project management, risk management, planning of software development processes, business process modelling, specifying requirements for IT systems, preparing acceptance tests, designing object-oriented systems, creating and assessing software architecture and software testing.

The Cybersecurity specialization responds to the growing demand for security specialists. It covers information system protection, cryptography and cryptanalysis, advanced security of information systems, functional security, network security, wireless network security, software-defined network security, application security, security testing and evaluation, Internet of Things security, Big Data security, Cloud and Data Centre security. Students also learn about new technology trends such as Blockchain and quantum computing.

This programme is suitable for candidates with a background in computer science, software engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related technical fields. Students are expected to have analytical thinking skills, an interest in programming and system design, openness to solving complex technical problems, research abilities and the motivation to gain advanced expertise in information technology.

There is no mandatory vocational internship in this programme. However, students may have the opportunity to complete internships and traineeships abroad through Erasmus+, EUNICE and IAESTE programmes. These opportunities help students gain international experience, explore different technology environments and develop professional contacts.

Graduates of the Computing master’s programme at Poznan University of Technology may work in national and international IT companies, research and development centres, software companies, cybersecurity organizations, technology consulting firms and various sectors using information technologies.
