The Master’s degree programme in Architecture at Poznan University of Technology is an advanced second-cycle programme designed for students who want to develop high-level knowledge and design skills in architecture and urban planning. The programme is offered by the Faculty of Architecture. It is a full-time second-cycle programme taught in English and lasts 3 semesters. Graduates receive a Master of Science degree.
The Architecture master’s programme prepares future architects to deal with complex design problems and to create architectural solutions within social, cultural, natural, historical, economic, legal and other non-technical contexts related to engineering practice. The programme focuses on advanced architectural design, research, analysis and decision-making skills needed in contemporary architectural practice.
Classes are prepared on the basis of the design experience of the academic staff and research conducted at the Faculty. The programme covers important areas such as healthcare design, industrial design, sustainable and energy-efficient architecture, urban planning, physical planning and the protection of cultural heritage. Students gain the opportunity to explore contemporary architectural approaches and develop the ability to transform interdisciplinary knowledge into effective design solutions.
The programme helps students build an individual career path and strengthen their professional design qualifications. Students are actively involved in scientific work and encouraged to gain experience in renowned foreign centres through international exchange opportunities such as Erasmus+. The integration of knowledge, skills and competences gained during the programme supports both academic development and future professional practice.
This programme is suitable for candidates who already have a background in architecture and want to deepen their knowledge in advanced design, urban planning and sustainable architecture. Students are expected to have creativity, research skills, the ability to combine technical and artistic perspectives, and the capacity to solve complex architectural and spatial problems independently.
There are no mandatory internships during the second-cycle studies. However, students may complete additional internships under the Erasmus+ programme. This gives them the chance to gain international experience, discover different design cultures and develop professional contacts in the field of architecture.
Graduates of the Architecture master’s programme at Poznan University of Technology may work in architectural offices, urban planning offices, design studios, research and development centres, public institutions, and organizations related to cultural heritage, sustainable building design and urban development. They may pursue careers as architect assistants, urban planning assistants, design specialists, interior design professionals, set designers, computer graphics designers or technical staff in municipal and public offices.
