The Faculty of Archaeology at the University of Warsaw offers a second-cycle full-time program in English that is designed to meet the challenges of modern archaeology while also meeting the expectations of students for practical knowledge applicable to their future work. The program is open to candidates from all over the world who are interested in researching ancient cultures, particularly those from the Mediterranean region, and who wish to gain expertise in bioarchaeology, osteology, or bone taphonomy.
During the program, students will choose two seminars based on their interests and supplement them with facultative courses, as well as two lectures: general academic and monographic. The selected courses are aimed at deepening students' professional and interdisciplinary knowledge and preparing them to write and defend their master's theses.
The program also includes a significant practicum component, which involves field surveys in the spring or autumn and excavations in the summer. These excavations are directed by researchers affiliated with the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Warsaw or in other locations around the world, such as Egypt, Georgia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Italy (Sicily), and South America.
The classes are held in the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw, which has housed the Institute of Archaeology for over a decade. Graduates from the second-cycle program will be well-prepared for independent research and working for research and educational institutions, museums, and conservation ateliers
